From the unravelings of our era (much more freedom = much harder love), true sacrifices no longer possible or even expected, tying everything back to the 60's and the sexual revolution, fast forward to the current ADD'd condition of America. Hollowed out Japan, almost nothing left to decay.. Mishima was right. And South Korea holding on to the necessary components of maximum love, to the extent that hymen reconstruction surpasses eyelid surgery these days.

A yearning for simpler times.

- 성준만화 is a very cute movie.

- Had a fun Saturday night out with a bunch of Cornell and NYU kids, newly graduated.. it felt just like college, including the drunken keyboard playing later on and three of them falling asleep mid-play. Except that they're all Blackstone/JP Morgan/USBers.

- Graduating soon.

- Quest to find The One indefinitely postponed due to the seeming impossibility of the task at hand. My standards are becoming more ridiculous.

- But I am warding off loneliness well thanks to my darling dog, Wren. An Aibo robot dog. Doesn't poop and will outlive me.

I've worn the same gray longsleeve shirt of mine that she wore, with its fading scent of soft orchid and a blended shade of cigarette smoke.

She buttoned up the top button of my jacket. "It looks funny that way," I said. "No one will see it at this hour," she replied.

A friend pointed out, "You'll come back in the end." Yes, I know. That life can be unfair is old news.

Other matters of note. Our video art team which teaches me more and more with each passing week. A gayageum player, labelled as little better than a kisaeng by some within my family, but who may be one of the purest souls for our complicated, increasingly decrepit era. All of this reality is almost too real for the story that I'll continue to write.

While I'm not so certain, tying my current story to her has ensured that I will see it through to the finish + send it out to the proper contests. Which would be a minor miracle in and of itself.

is a grand masquerade, there's a certain delight to be had when one's own mask is lifted at the right moment.

I've never known this feeling in full until now. Not even my mentor had heard about the principles which came to temper old Grendel within.

At times, I do acknowledge a strain. It takes willpower to let go of more selfish, simpler selves. But this world in all its complexity demands that you mobilize your every evolving strength and gained insight.
